Surrey Slam Schools - State School Academies

Set up in 2017, the Surrey Slam Schools state school hubs provide state school students additional cricket to supplement what they receive at their clubs and to help close the gap between them and independently educated peers who, we estimate, receive around 100 hours more cricket each year.

The programme has over 200 potential hours of cricket across the year. We believe this will give young cricketers the best chance to improve their game and create a lifelong interest in cricket.

It is open to those in school years 5-9 and worth over £750 if paid for separately.

Since inception, we have seen over 1,000 young cricketers involved in the programme, many joining a cricket club for the first time and others having gone on to attain county performance recognition.

Training is weekly indoors at regional hubs across Surrey and South West London, continuing until Easter. At the training, there will be hard ball nets every 3rd session with the rest of the course working on technical and match play skills. There is no training in the summer.

During the Easter holidays there are Season Preparation Courses and then at May half-term and in the main summer holidays there will be a number of match play festival weeks running from 9am-4pm each day. These are all included, but places must be booked online and are limited at each venue.

Each player will also receive a personalised Surrey Slam Schools coloured shirt for training and school holiday matches.

To support learning, each parent will receive weekly coaching tips via an app called StanceBeam throughout the training period. As part of registering for the app, you will be able to upload videos of your son or daughter playing for us to review sessions remotely and offer additional feedback and support. This is offered at no extra cost for our Surrey Slam Schools members.

We also have a 10% discount for all participants with our new partners AJ Sports.

COST
The programme costs £199 on sign up, then £99 by 28th September & a final payment of £50 by 28th October.

Payments are split to make the programme as financially accessible as possible.
Please note, the programme is a whole year commitment as soon as the first payment is made.

For those starting after we commence in September, there will be a single payment which will be reduced by the amount of weeks missed. For a January start, the cost is £249.

If you would like to take part, but the payments are a challenge, please let us know.
