Walking Cricket - The Benefits

You may know, this summer we are launching a Surrey Walking Cricket team in association with the Surrey Cricket Foundation. Today, we will be looking at the many benefits of this and why you or someone you know should partake in this fantastic experience.

Opportunity to Play For Surrey Walking Cricket Team

Do you love cricket and have always wanted to be part of a team? Playing for Surrey Walking Cricket Team is a great way to feel included in a sport you love, while playing for a well established team. Weekly training sessions will take place on Thursdays at 10:30am to 12:00pm at Cobham Avorians Cricket Club, well situated just off the A3 and M25. The first session is on the 22nd April and you don't need any equipment to take part. It's soft ball, so no pads, gloves, helmets, etc. are needed.

All Ability Levels

Not much experience? Not a problem! All ability levels are very much welcome here, so don't feel worried if you don't have much of a background in the sport, you won't be the only one. Walking cricket is designed to be a fun experience for those just wanting to get involved. The only thing that matters to us is enthusiasm, so whether you are knowledgeable when it comes to cricket or not, participating, no matter of ability level, is what is most important.

Must Be Retired

Everyone involved in walking cricket must be retired. Teams of 10 a side are mixed so we are looking for men and women to take part, so being retired is the only requirement! All joining the team will be of similar age and time in life, therefore you know there will be others like you to talk to and interact with. We already have a match set up away against Yorkshire for later in the summer! As all men and women involved are retired, it will be a fun experience for like-minded people.

During lockdown, meeting others and socialising was near impossible. However, now that life is slowly getting back to normal, meeting new people and enjoying fun activities are at the top of the list! Being part of the Walking Cricket team will bring that social aspect of your life that has been missing for over a year now. Plus, with the added bonus of playing a sport that you and everyone else involved loves. Sign up, meet new people and enjoy playing some great cricket.

Low Impact Physical Activity

Last, but certainly not least, one of the amazing parts of walking cricket is that you are getting exercise in, without it being too strenuous. Physical activity is always better when you're having fun and what better than playing a great game of cricket with others who also love the sport. Don't worry if it has been a while since exercise has played a major role in your life, as it is low impact and won't leave you feeling breathless! All details are shown in the picture above, so sign up now and look forward to playing some fantastic cricket.
