Surrey Indoor League: 28 clubs enter home stretch in enthralling 2017/18 season!
Outer London Division: Saintly encounter gets feisty
St George's and Guy's & St Thomas' took part in a to-and-fro match, with all results possible until late in the second innings.
A late innings surge got Guy's & St Thomas' from a troublesome position, to over 100. This proved enough on the day. Nihkil Sahdev glued St George's chase together, but his team stagnated badly mid-innings, to hand Guy's the initiative once more. A brilliant series of 10 consecutive dot balls put them firmly on top, and they held their nerve to close the game out.
Watch the video to see highlights of this thrilling match, which also had 2 champagne moments that are well worth watching!
Adam Caddy's catch lit up Spencer's match with Chaldon. The opening bowler hurled himself to his left towards the wall, putting aside his own safety, and held on to a screamer.
Check out his heroics below. Spencer went on to record their 6th straight win! Will they remain unbeaten all Winter?
Kew are back to winning ways at Wimbledon too! They overcame a small total set by KCL, who suffered from an early loss and never fully recovered.
Despite having little to defend, the students made every single run hard earned by Kew. They took the match into the 9th over, and sent 3 batsmen to the pavilion also.
James Clemence was outstanding for Kew, taking 3-8 in his 3 overs. Not bad for a man who claims not to get a bowl in Summer! Food for thought, team captains!!
Central Division: still anybody's to win!
Ham & Petersham managed an emphatic win, to end a run of 3 games without victory.
Cheam once again left themselves with too much to do. If they can get to the halfway stage with the loss of just 1 or 2 wickets, anything will be possible. But 4 down leaves them in too big a hole.
Oxted created distance between themselves and the chasing pack, with a big win against Worcester Park. Their batsmen resumed normal service of running the opposition to distraction, en route to 130.
South Division: group stage ends, play-off stage begins!
In the South Division, Churt were surprised by Whiteley Village, who notched up their first win of the year!
In reality this group B has been close throughout, with small margins deciding many of the contests. So we shouldn't be too surprised by the result.
Horsley overcame Woking comfortably in the second match of the evening. The South Division now enters a play-off round, with fixtures out now!
Junior League: teams continue to improve at pace!
In the junior league, 2 close-fought matches were played. The victors, Weybridge "A" and Effingham, had their work cut out to defeat their opponents.
It's been really inspiring to see the improvement levels, from two young sides finding their feet in indoor cricket. The experience of playing older and more experienced sides will serve Epsom and Weybridge "B" really well in the Summer! They should be proud of their conduct and performances!
