Vikings thrash Puffins
Today the 'summer' cricket season in Iceland officially got under way, as the Reykjavik Puffins and Kopavogur Vikings commenced their series.
The result was a clinical victory for the Vikings, who thrashed their opponents without losing a wicket. Batting first on a tricky, chilly morning, the Puffins were all at sea against excellent pace bowling, particularly from newcomer Chamley Fernando. He bagged a haul of 4-11 and fully deserved the Man of the Match Award. The Puffins' total of 52 was never going to be enough to challenge the Vikings and they sped to victory in a little more than five overs, Ravi Rawat blasting a quickfire unbeaten 35.
Next Sunday the Rest of the World XI take on an Asia XI at the club's Korinn headquarters.
