Wimbledon Under 13s end indoor league campaign in style
Wimbledon CC rounded off the Surrey Twenty20 Under 13 Indoor League in style on Friday night with a win over Thames Ditton CC at Richard Challoner School.
The indoor league champions have dominated the under 13 age group division this season either side of Christmas, losing only one of their 10 games, and rounded off their final game with a 62 run win.
Batting first, Wimbledon made 172 for 5 off their allotted 15 overs, which was dominated by Pravin Kiritharan who made 95 retired, which of 42 balls contained three boundaries and nine sixes. Wilf Morris added a solid 33 to their total which also contained 34 extras.
In reply, Thames Ditton batted out their 15 overs, reaching 110 for 5 at the close. Oliver Johns with 30 and Lucas Pearson making 31 their chief run-getters, as Wimbledon’s Robert Muir was at the heart of the action in the field, taking a wicket and having a hand in two run outs.
Friday evening’s other game was a battle of the Under 14 teams in the Under 15 League, and it was Ripley CC who came out on top over Tiffin School by a one wicket margin.
Tiffin batted first and made 98 for 5 from their 15 overs. Rishi Balla 24 not out and James Waymouth with an identical score top scoring.
In reply, Ripley reached their target in 13.1 overs, making 99 for 5, with Josh Thomas leading the way with 39 from 26 balls. Dhiran Bains and Max Burgess did their best to peg the winners back taking 2 for 24 and 2 for 26 respectively.
Twenty20 Cricket Company also took the opportunity to present their indoor league awards for the season.
Alex Step from Tiffin School’s Under 15s was Player of the Season in the Under 15 League, whilst Matthew Cormack also from Tiffin School took the plaudits for Player of the Season in the Under 13 League.
