Reykjavik Puffins exact revenge on opening day defeat
Today Reykjavik Puffins exacted revenge for last week's defeat to the Kopavogur Vikings, securing an excellent 3-wicket win.
In a seven players a side fixture, the Vikings scored an impressive 125-3 from their 15 overs, with the opening stand worth 74. Mahinda Dissanayaka (40) and Derek Deonarain (25) set the platform, while two big sixes from Junaid Raja (18 not out) stood out in the highlights reel.
The Puffins' chase got off to a shaky start, as openers Sulaiman Malik andDavid Cook were both dismissed for 6. However, explosive hitting from Fergus Mason (28) and a linchpin innings by Muhammad Younas (38 not out) changed the course of the match in decisive fashion. One again, the team conceding the most extras lost the match, and the Vikings will be disappointed by a tally of 35 wides.
The friendly series is tied 1-1 and will resume in the New Year.
