Regional Surrey Cricket Academies 2022-23

Our three regional Cricket Academies in Surrey are the top level of our pathway and are open to all hard ball players in school years 5-13, subject to a trial.

We have one Regional Academy in East Surrey, one in West Surrey and a new Girls Cricket Academy.

The Academies aim to fill the gap between club and county. Players are often former county performance players, those who have trialled but been unsuccessful, or those players who are at the strongest end of their club team and looking to be stretched more.

Some new players may be invited to trial for a place and those successful will be committing to the full year ahead.
Regular Tier 1 Surrey Junior Cricket Championship (SJCC) club players may not need to trial

Players receive:

  • Whole winter training either at Richard Challoner School (East), Fullbrook School (West). There is no training in the summer

  • Personalised training & playing clothing

  • Progress reports & regular session coaching tip updates via StanceBeam app

  • October (24-28) & February (13-17) half-term StanceBeam video & data capture sessions at Richard Challoner School

  • Easter holiday Season Preparation courses, May half-term and summer holiday festival weeks for players up to and including under 13 (must be booked separately and are subject to availability)

  • Matches scored on our own Academy app providing additional player feedback data

  • Intra-Academy summer competitions

  • Umpiring and scoring training opportunities

  • Duke of Edinburgh Award opportunities

Matches

We also have opportunities to play some matches for the Academy indoors over the winter and outdoors over the summer.

Club matches always take precedence over Academy games as we are here to support clubs, not to compete with them.

Due to the potential clashes with club commitments, these matches are an optional extra to the core program, so if you can’t play in matches as you have club games or other commitments, it’s not an issue.

We will be looking to run approximately 5 or 6 matches in the summer for the U10-U14 age groups, and there will be 5 matches in each of the Academy Festival weeks in August.

  • Additional potential match opportunities for U13-U19 players: -

    • 1st XI Surrey Downs League (Saturday, 40 overs per side)

    • 2nd XI Sunday Adult Matches (Typically 40 overs per side)

    • Mini–Test Matches in the May half-term & summer holidays (2-day, 2 innings)

    • 1st XI Academy festival week tour matches in South East England
