The Week Ahead at Twenty20 Community Cricket
February half-term week is always an exciting week at Twenty20 Community Cricket and this year is no different.
We have our usual 4-day camp indoors at Richard Challoner School where our coaches will be working with just under 30 young cricketers, preparing them for the new season with a mixture of drills, nets and afternoons of indoor matches.
Monday afternoon our Deaf Cricket work continues with a meeting with Sight for Surrey's Deaf Officer.
The following day we will be catching up with Weybridge Cricket Club to discuss plans for the upcoming season and the MCC Foundation Hub will be running in the evening at Royal Grammar School Guildford.
Over the course of the week we will be developing our work with Sierra Leone where the league season has just started. This will involve analysing player performances via the CricHeroes app which provides unprecedented detail allowing us to monitor players from thousands of miles away. Sierra Leone are playing in a T20 World Cup qualifier in late April so everything is working towards that tournament now with the top team in each group progressing to the Global Qualifiers.
Half-term week rounds off with our annual trip to Vienna for the Wintercup indoor competition. This will be our 9th visit in a row with our Touregs touring team and it's our youngest team yet so we'll be hoping to better our best ever runners-up finish with a win! Also taking part are Vienna, Seebarn, Berlin, Warsaw Hussars, ECAD Deaf, Old Woking and Zurich Asian Kings. It's sure to be a great event as always.
