Measures introduced by DCB to improve Umpiring Standards
The DCB is in the process of introducing a number of measures that will improve umpiring within German cricket and motivate more people to take up umpiring. This follows six Level 1 umpires course that have taken place in Germany (in all DCB regions) over the last 15 months.
DCB Umpires Officer Vignaesh Sankaran has recently set up the DCB Umpires Commitee where he will sit together with experienced Level 1A umpires Andrew Schou and John Campbell in order to set out a pathway for umpires.
This includes new forms to be filled in by all captains in all DCB league games (Bundesliga and Regionalliga as well as DCB Vereinspokal) and other measures that will allow the DCB and regional umpires to assess which umpires receive the best feedback and allow them to take on more challenging assignmenst in DCB matches and international tournaments.
The DCB Umpires Committee has already started to ask regional umpires officers for their input as to the best umpires in each region and certain umpires will be appointed to the newly set-up “DCB Umpires Panel” over the next few weeks.
These umpires will be kitted out with DCB umpires clothing from our sponsor Wintech Sports and these umpires will be eligible to stand in all games at DCB level as well as international tournaments and regional finals.
Any umpire can make it onto this panel but the nomination must come to the DCB via the regional umpires officer.
