Twenty20 Community Cricket Player Pathway

At Twenty20 Community Cricket our player pathway is accessible to everyone no matter what part of their cricketing journey they are on. The majority of players start with us at school or at their cricket club or by coming to one of our school holiday camps & courses. From there, some progress to our Borough State School Academies. Players are selected from summer trials to train and play for their local borough the following summer in matches. Our Surrey Performance Academy players come to us from a number of different places. They might be picked up from their cricket clubs or at the Borough State School Academies or via their school. Often we will spot talent at our camps & courses and fro

After 4 months, and starting out with 23 clubs, Wimbledon CC and Spencer CC were the final 2 teams standing. There had been 99 matches to this point....the 100th would decide who would be Surrey Indoor Champions! With a big turnout in the viewing area, and hundreds tuned in to our Facebook Live feed, the two local rivals thrashed out one of the tensest games ever seen in a sports hall! This hour-long tussle proved that indoor cricket can be as enthralling as many outdoor games! Innings 1 Wimbledon won the toss, and after some deliberation, opted to bowl. They have had the luxury of being tested over the season as both target-setters and target-chasers. Would the experience of successful cha

Surrey Indoor League: 2 exciting semi finals sets up Wimbledon/Spencer local derby in the final!

Semi Final 1: Spencer CC (110 all out) beat Guildford City YP (55 all out) by 55 runs A big first game of the day, between past double-champions and top Surrey Championship club. Spencer CC batted first against Guildford City's swing bowling attack. A decent early partnership takes all the pressure off, and Spencer's openers delivered in style. Scoring at 8 per over against the openers, Swainland and Smith went gradually through the gears. By the time Shah picked up the first wicket with a sharp caught and bowled, the score was 64 (10 an over). Smith seemed to have plenty of time to play each stroke, scoring at over a run-per-ball to a classy 25. Skipper Harry Bardon kept up the pace in the

Pick your favourite Surrey Indoor League play!

OPTION A: Matthew Bateman (Malden Wanderers CC) Matthew Bateman is one of many talented teenagers in the Malden side, who performed admirably all season against experienced teams (including several 1st XI club players). He somehow clung on to this rocket from Kew's Damien Patel. OPTION B: Phil Traynor (Oxted & Limpsfield CC) Oxted & Limpsfield have played many seasons of indoor cricket. Their keeper Phil traynor has racked up A LOT of dismissals. Here is him showing his magic touch. Such a huge asset to have a skilled gloveman, who can stand up to the stumps to anyone! OPTION C: Ben Isaac (Horsley & Send CC) Probably the ball of the tournament! At 15 year old, Horsley have a true star in leg

Spring junior training starts at Weybridge Cricket Club

Today sees the re-start of the indoor cricket training at Weybridge Cricket Club. We had 160 juniors training over the whole of the autumn term at Heathside School and we saw a number of youngsters making huge progress over those weeks. This term we are likely to see similar numbers with training starting for the under 8s all the way up to under 14s. In 2018 we will be running school holiday cricket courses at Weybridge Cricket Club at Easter, May half-term and through the summer holidays, with 6 weeks of camps from mid-July to mid/end August. Details can be found on our website, where you can also book.

The importance of purposeful training

The England cricket team's trials & tribulations with taking wickets, or rather not, with no balls this winter has highlighted a very important coaching point as articulated on Cricinfo this week. It would appear that in England's nets they don't worry about whether the bowlers' front foot is over the line or not and now they are seemingly paying the price for this oversight. This is a lesson for us all even at grassroots club level. Practice should always be as purposeful as possible, replicating as close as you can to what would happen in a match. Making sure that bowlers keep their front foot (and indeed back foot on the return crease) behind the line in a net/practice situation is perhap
