Surrey Indoor League: what did we learn this week?!

Look where you are going! You can always rely on your teammates' sympathy in hard times! If you want to win, try less of this.... ....and more of this! A single inch can be the difference between a six and a wicket. It always helps to have luck on your side! The bounce of the ball can make you look silly! Most of all, we have learnt that indoor cricket can be as intense as outdoors! Look at the enthusiasm! CLICK HERE FOR ACCESS TO ALL SURREY INDOOR LEAGUE VIDEOS

Surrey Indoor League: 28 clubs enter home stretch in enthralling 2017/18 season!

Outer London Division: Saintly encounter gets feisty St George's and Guy's & St Thomas' took part in a to-and-fro match, with all results possible until late in the second innings. A late innings surge got Guy's & St Thomas' from a troublesome position, to over 100. This proved enough on the day. Nihkil Sahdev glued St George's chase together, but his team stagnated badly mid-innings, to hand Guy's the initiative once more. A brilliant series of 10 consecutive dot balls put them firmly on top, and they held their nerve to close the game out. Watch the video to see highlights of this thrilling match, which also had 2 champagne moments that are well worth watching! Adam Caddy's catch lit up Sp

Effingham move to joint top of thrilling Junior Indoor League!

Last Sunday was an evening for the target setters as opposed to the chasers, at Downsend's Surrey Indoor Cricket League. All 4 sides who batted first emerged as victors, by a small but decisive margin. Effingham took on Weybridge "B" in the first match of the day. Despite having lost every match this season, the younger Weybridge outfit have improved immeasurably since they began their campaign. This week their performance in the field was up there with the best, scrambling to stop every ball, and backing up with plenty of time for the throws. This, along with FAR few extras, contributed to keeping Effingham's powerful driving top order from speeding away. Special mention should go to Adam F

First ever century in Twenty20 Surrey Indoor Cricket League!! Nomaan Ali goes BIG at Wimbledon Colle

Twenty20 have hosted the Surrey Men's Indoor Cricket League for 4 seasons. Among all the feats of batting, bowling and fielding, one landmark has stood untouched all this time. Can anybody score a century in the 12-over format? 2 or 3 players have scored within 20 runs, but without the combination of form and circumstance (last man stands is almost essential), reaching the 3-figure landmark seemed beyond reach. Until today! Nomaan Ali smashed 17 sixes on the way to his record-shattering score. To put things into perspective....his score alone would be enough to be in the top 5 team totals in this year's Outer London Division!! The poor King's College side were understandably shell-shocked. Surrey Junior Indoor League: Another exciting and high-class evening at Downsend

GAME 1: Effingham (109-2) beat Weybridge "A" (103-2) by 4 wickets It took 4 innings in total to separate them, but the 2-match deadlock between Effingham CC and Weybridge "A" was finally broken! Batting first, Weybridge's Faircliff and Francis assumed business as usual. Straight bats, clean contact, fast and aggressive running. This tactic has gotten Weybridge off to a flier on most weeks. However, Effingham's bowlers were on the money immediately. Lacking the width to easily clip the balls into gaps, Weybridge got a little too keen to impose themselves. A series of crunching drives zipped right to fielders. Despite looking in great touch, the value for these shots were therefore quite low.

Twenty20 Surrey Performance Academy training update

We are now 5 weeks into our autumn Academy sessions and the improvement shown by each player each week has been huge. We have also seen the dedication and desire to improve from each player who has had a 1-2-1 either with myself, Dom or Rob which hopefully will carry on. During winter training we have tried to focus on two elements of each player's game and that’s fielding and personal player development. We have seen over the past few seasons fielding has been a key element of the game where we have needed improvement and could make a huge difference in results and more importantly each players improvement as all round cricketers. Taking the boys to that next step in their cricketing develo

Twenty20 Academy up to second, in tight Surrey Cricket Junior League

As the outside temperatures fall, the Surrey Junior Indoor League is heating up! 5 skilled and competitive teams are participating, and there is all to play for at the halfway stage. Last Sunday, Twenty20 Academy were pushed to the very end by Effingham CC (last year's champions, no less!). Chasing 99 to win, one of their strongest batting displays of the year saw them home in the 10th over. Batting first, Effingham's Sam Partridge and Raymond Wing played some exquisite shots in their opening partnership. Unfortunately cover drives do not bring the same reward indoors as they do outdoors! The middle and late order played selflessly to push Effingham's score up to 98. Every Twenty20 bowler c
