Game 1: Effingham v Weybridge U13 Effingham held their nerve, to chase down 90 against Weybridge U13/U11 mix team and remain unbeaten in 2 matches. There are no weak links in a team full of able all-rounders. All Weybridge's batsmen got off the mark, but only Michael Thornberry kicked on. His 14 not out showed great character, keeping a straight bat and soft hands, for 32 balls. Close to half of these balls were as the "last man standing". Sam Partridge was the star performer, with a brilliant haul of 14 not out, 2 wickets, 2 catches....a good day at the office in general! However, Cheam always posed a threat with the ball, and chipped away at the batting side. Wimbledon returned to their fortress, determined to overcome last week's setback (their defeat to Spencer ended an extraordinary 11 game unbeaten run). They faced a Malden Wanderers team made largely of talented teenagers. Both were looking for their first win of the season. Surrey Indoor League: Central league under way!

Matches in the Surrey Men's Indoor Cricket League are now coming thick and fast. The Outer London, Central and South Divisions have now kicked off. And it is clear we have another competitive league in ahead. The Central League was the final division to begin, on Sunday evening. We wish every child playing in the Twenty20 Junior Indoor Cricket League the best of luck!! The competition begins on Sunday evening, at Downsend School in Leatherhead! The clubs Epsom CC: one of the biggest of many friendly cricket clubs in central Surrey. Epsom fields 2 sides for every age group, and have a good recent track record sending boys and girls into the Surrey Development system. Weybridge CC: WCC will field two teams in the league, With almost 450 colts, Weybridge is one of the giants of junior cricket in the county. Another Division of the Twenty20 Men's Surrey Indoor Cricket League kicks off on Thursday! The Outer London hosts our biggest Division. 10 teams are participating from a wide area, with teams hailing from several London Boroughs. Surrey Indoor season kicks off at Guildford! Day 1 match reports.

We're up and away in the Surrey Men's Indoor Cricket League. George Abbot hosted the South Division. Experience prevailed in the first round of matches, but our two newcomers can draw many positives from their performance. It is incredibly rare for first-timers to win their first ever match....the indoor format takes some getting used to!
