Geneva XI win Opener

Geneva XI stars CC beat Cern CC by 4 wickets in a thrilling opener of Geneva T20 cup On a damp and cloudy day Cern won the toss and opted to bat first and scored 135 runs in the allotted 20 overs. The standout performer was Paul with 75 runs. For the stars Ali Saleem took 2 wickets and Amir and Mayur took one wicket each. Geneva XI stars won the match in The last over thanks to an unbeaten partnership between Raja Hafeez and Amandeep Singh both of whom remained not out. Kuldeep scored 41 at the top of the order and was ably supported by M. Ali.

DCB reach 100 members

Today the DCB celebrates reaching the milestone of having 100 members by welcoming SC Bautzen 04 e.V. They have a full Under 19 team who will playing in the newly formed Sachsen U19 league this summer. We now have 207 teams in all competitions for this season in 28 hard ball leagues and competitions. More than ten other clubs are going through the process of registering themselves as we speak. Others are already setting themselves up to join in 2017 and playing friendlies this summer. Heilbronn, Berg, Paderborn, Oldenburg, Osnabrück, Lippstadt, Trier, Pfaffenhofen, Moers, Dortmund, Aschaffenburg - we are waiting!

Puffins get consolation win in series loss to Vikings

Last Sunday the five-match indoor series between Reykjavik Puffins and Kopavogur Vikings concluded with a tense, one-wicket victory for the Puffins. Key to their success was a swift innings of 48 from the Man of the Match, Dushan Bandara. The series itself went the way of the Vikings 3-2, who were more much more consistent than their local rivals. For a string of consistent performances with the bat, behind the stumps and occasionally with the ball, Keenan Botha was named Man of the Series.

Welcome to….Edmund, Nomaan, Tom and Chris

In addition to Kym Osborne joining the Twenty20 Community Cricket coaching team, we also welcome four new coaches to our ranks. They are Edmund Edge, Nomaan Ali, Tom Daniel and Chris Jacobs. All five of our new recruits will be extensively busy and active this summer in all aspects of our cricket work in the community. Twenty20 Community Cricket are pleased to Kym Osborne to their coaching staff team Kym's credentials as a player and coach come highly regarded and make for impressive reading. He has enjoyed a playing career that to date has included spells in Premier league cricket with Vauxhall Mallards in East Anglia, Norfolk U19 and Sussex Academy cricket. This was before taking on coaching with roles at both Sussex and Surrey County Cricket Clubs. Those roles included cricket development, and District, County age groups and Academy coaching, with the latter also running alongside coaching and playing for Spencer CC including managing their successful Ladies side. Twenty20 Academy edged out in exciting season opener at Guildford

The Twenty20 Cricket Academy were involved in an exciting season opener at the weekend despite going down to a two wicket defeat. The T20 Academy Under 14 team faced a strong Guildford Under 13 in a 25 over encounter but despite some impressive performances with bat and ball, they were edged out by the home side with 10 balls to spare. Batting first, the Twenty20 Cricket Academy made a useful 154 for 6 off their allotted 25 overs. Tiam Afshar and Hemant Ganesh got the innings off to a good start putting on 33 for the opening wicket before Afshar was the first wicket to fall. The Streak continues for Brittania

Britannia prevails again on a low scoring match. Typical April weather hovering over Maifeld and then comes some fantastic bowling by Viktoria 89 restricting us to a very low score of 128/10. Fortunately Rohit Singh and Abhinand Jha got us over 100 runs. 80% of the runs coming from these two batsmen. A below par score for any team to really defend. Now began a fantastic fight back from Britannia. Rohit and Manvendra Singh upping pressure on Viktoria 89 batsmen right from the start. T20 International in Zurich

On Saturday 23rd April 2016, members of Cricket Switzerland met with Darren Talbot & Robin Maslin of T20 International Cricket Company in Zurich, Switzerland. T20 International have been working with Zurich Crickets, Basel Dragons, Gingins & La Chat for some years at U11 & U13 Level. Discussions were based around exploring additional ways that T20 International can assistCricket Switzerland member clubs to develop cricket domestically. During their visit Darren & Robin visited the indoor training facilities used by Zurich Crickets & Zurich Sapphires Cricket Club's to see juniors at U11, U13 & U15 and the Zurich ladies team train.

Measures introduced by DCB to improve Umpiring Standards

The DCB is in the process of introducing a number of measures that will improve umpiring within German cricket and motivate more people to take up umpiring. This follows six Level 1 umpires course that have taken place in Germany (in all DCB regions) over the last 15 months. DCB Umpires Officer Vignaesh Sankaran has recently set up the DCB Umpires Commitee where he will sit together with experienced Level 1A umpires Andrew Schou and John Campbell in order to set out a pathway for umpires. Scoala Altfel, Moara Vlasiei, Update from Romania

Last Friday Cricket Romania had the pleasure of hosting children from two of the local Moara Vlasiei schools who participated in a Kwik Cricket tournament. The initiative formed part of their 'Scoala Altfel', a week in which schoolkids break from their regular syllabus and undertake different activities such as going on camps, visiting museums and art galleries and other excursions. Competitors comprised 5th and 6th graders from Sc Moara Vlasiei 1 and 2 who, while already receiving coaching in cricket, relished the wide open spaces of the Moara Vlasiei playing surface. Learning at Levante

Year Five students of Colegio Loreto learn about Cricket On Friday 15th April 2016, 88 Year five girls and boys (aged 11 – 12) from the Colegio Loreto took part in a two hour introduction to cricket event sponsored by Beisfam (the Astros’ school of Baseball and Softball) at the Valencia Baseball and Softball ground in Valencia. The event was organised and monitored by members of the Levante Cricket Club.
