Second under 15's Indoor Cricket Tournament in Serbia - New Belgrade Cup

For this second event the interest levels was even higher so instead of four, as previously planned, there were five 7-a-side teams – three from the “school of cricket” in New Belgrade and two from “Stari Grad”. The level of cricket was also much improved in comparison with the first tournament. The teams looked more compact and tactically aware, with bowling, running between the wickets and the fielding being the three main areas of improvement. The winner of the tournament was, surprisingly, the second team of Mirijevo - Blokovi, who in the final beat their “more established” team-mates. The best batter of the tournament was again Luka Milićević, whilst the best bowler was an extremely ta

Defending champions win the first Luxembourg indoor cricket semi-final

Earlier tonight the first semi final ended with a win for AIL CC after a good quality match. Defending champions AIL CC were put into bat and started well with Sriram hitting 21 followed by an excellent 47 from Suhail. Their final score of 161 for 6 was good but still reachable if WOCC/ISL could keep their nerve. But in reply scoreboard pressure led to no less that 5 run outs and so despite an impressive 31 from Girish Venkateswaran, WOCC/ISL fell short of the target and with it their indoor season ends. But they collapsed from 96 for 2 to 119 all out after Ajai Sharma (30) and Sankalp Sharma (22) had both batted well. To appeal or not to appeal?

Appealing or not? Cricket courts wildly different views. Controversy leads to inevitable debate - as will be seen on Facebook walls around the cricket-loving globe! Depending on your background or homeland, sledging, "Mankading", walking and refusing to walk is interpreted as, "part of the game" or "an abomination/travesty/cheating". Now, consider what a person who had never seen the game before would think. Some of the customs that we take for granted, it turns out, appear quite bizarre! A view from Bosnia Meet Slavko Drach. Slavko grew up Australia, where a love for cricket was first kindled. He now practices the game in the Balkan nation of Bosnia - the game has a "fledgling form" in this

Summer Junior Club Coaching - Coaching to be more competitive and aid player retention

Coaching your local club juniors can be a rewarding experience but for many, particularly voluntary coaches, it can also be hard work. When you are coaching maybe 90 minutes a week for 13 weeks throughout the year it's very hard to build up enough experience of individuals and situations to know what to coach and how to coach. What is the primary focus on your summer training? For most age groups arguably it's to make sure they can be competitive in matches. Competitive doesn't necessarily mean winning, it just means that the team are able to be in a position not to get hammered every week. Winning is a wonderful feeling but nothing demotivates young people more than getting thrashed every
