Alistair Gordon has just updated his rankings site - - for 1/1/16 and the New Year sees a new number one. However, the 10 Test playing nations still occupy the top 10 positions in his chart and it is likely that this state of affairs will continue for some time yet unfortunately. Of more interest to readers might be the latest positions for European cricketing nations, an excellent guide to relative strengths. Italy end the year as the top Twenty20 team in Europe (excluding Holland, Scotland and Ireland) in 21st place with Jersey, Denmark and Guernsey in quick succession in 25th, 26th and 28th respectively. Finn-Asia Cricket Chairman elected to sports parliament

The chairman of Finn-Asia Cricket Association, Pasi Kankaanpää, has been elected to the Turku sports parliament, representing the 300 sports associations and their 60.000 members in Turku. Proper management and close collaboration with the Turku sports officials resulted in the election, made by Turku's sport associations last month. Membership in the parliament is a big responsibility, and an indication that cricket and Finn-Asia are taken seriously in Turku. This is another small but positive achievement for cricket in Finland, and opens new possibilities for collaboration within various areas of sports.

News from South West France Cricket

The turn of the year is always the time to start thinking about the season ahead. 1. The Fixtures page now shows the draws for the Cup and the T20 competition. The date for the Cup Final is settled; but dates are yet to be put the earlier rounds. The T20's dates are all still to be settled too but will be once the League pool dates are completed. 2. First ever official Finnish Indoor Cricket championships to launch with live televised final

Cricket Finland (CF) are pleased to advise that we have finalised negotiations with VALO/YLE to deliver the first ever official Finnish Championship Indoor cricket tournament as part of the “SM-VIIKKO” event to be held at the Tampere Exhibition Centre on February 12th to 14th 2016. This is the first time such a prestigious combined sports event has been organised in Finland and it will include around 15 different sports in 2016. All of the sports that will be hosting Finnish Championship finals will have their final televised LIVE on YLE TV plus there will be match extracts and interviews shown on YLE throughout the spectacular event. Twenty20 Camps return to Croydon in 2016

East Croydon is our first confirmed summer camp for 2016. We will be returning to Addiscombe CC once again on 8th-12th August and you can book your place online. Cricket Switzerland sign up to CricHQ

Cricket Switzerland's league chairman has announced Cricket Switzerland's intention to partner with CricHQ as of 2016 to manage player registration, the CSPL & Pickwick Cup competitions and all internationals. Cricket Switzerland will sign up to CricHQ's cricket management services to manage fixtures, umpire allocations, point allocations and automated draws for competitions. Once the games are completed, clubs can upload scorecards from their own club account, and published on the Cricket Switzerland website using iFrames. New Cricket Ground being built in Cyprus

In an exiting development for Cyprus Cricket, the Cyprus Cricket Association has signed a long term lease on a piece of land in Tochni Village - about halfway between Limassol and Larnaca. Since cricket started on the island in the 1980s, most games have been played on military grounds. When this ground is built around Spring 2016, Cypriot cricketers will have their own ground and facilities for the first time. Because of limited available funds, the ground development is taking place in stages over the next few years. The first step is to move trees and flatten the ground which is taking place this month. Jersey Cricket continue local cricket development programme

During the 2015 autumn term the Jersey Cricket Board has continued its development of local cricket in Jersey with the support of the Ana Leaf Foundation. Throughout October, November and December the JCB have been developing skills of over 625 Key Stage 1 Children across 12 Jersey Primary schools. The programme focuses on the FUNdamental stage of the Long Term Athlete Development model. The skills taught include throwing, catching and striking. The Play-Off rounds in the Central section of the Surrey ECB Mens Indoor Cricket League at Downsend School got underway on Sunday, and Horsley and Send CC Lions gave themselves another shot at progressing to the County Finals thanks to victory over Westcott CC. Batting first, the Lions made 127 for 6 (all out) in 11.2 overs, largely thanks to Vikram Singh making 43 and 55 runs coming in extras. Wimbledon CC Under 13s made it six out of six with another victory in the Surrey Twenty20 Junior Indoor Cricket League. Their latest success at Richard Challoner School came against Thames Ditton CC Under 13s by virtue of a 97 run win. Batting first, Wimbledon made 145 for 6 (all out) off 14.5 overs. In the first of a three match indoor series between the two sides comprising Iceland Cricket Team, yesterday Kópavogur Vikings were comfortable winners over the Reykjavik Puffins by a margin of 6 wickets. Mahindra Dissanayake was man of the match for his unbeaten innings of 30, while debutant Derick Deonarain took 3 cheap wickets for the Vikings. The two teams play their second 15 overs a side fixture on 20th December at Korinn.
